In Character
Name: Lobo
Nicname: Bo
Date of Birth: Never documented, sometime in mid-spring
Age: 2 years
Breed: Mexican Gray Wolf
Gender: Male
Personality: Bo has no idea how to act around another wolf, considering he was raised without them. (See History) He can be shy sometimes, especially in the presence of many wolves. But, he is loyal and trust worthy once he gets to know another wolf. Bo is very laid back and sometimes thinks too much about simple things. He will only take the amount of food that fills him up, or whatever is available. Bo never eats more then his share and will gladly spare some for hungry wolves. Because of this, his body never has an extra ounce of fat. Bo can be quite shaky when meeting others and is scared easily. He’s not the best hunter, and will learn fast if someone would be willing to teach him. So, in sum, Bo is gentle and caring, loyal and trusting, and very generous, but he does have a lot to learn about life.
Appearance: His eyes are light brown with specks of green (Hazel-ish) Legs are a creamy color, and fade to a light brown. On his back is a light brown undercoat; hair fades to black (from shoulders to tip of tail). Face is mostly cream colored, fades to light brown on top of head and ears. Because of his history, both of Bo’s front legs have a patch where the fur was shaved away, which will grow back eventually. Also, his side has a large, jagged scar running from below his shoulder to just before his hip.
Family: Bo and his two sisters were born somewhere in the depths of wild Mexico. The three pups were taken away from their mother at a very young age. Bo doesn’t have any memory of his sisters or parents.
History:When Bo and his siblings were about 10 weeks old, exploring just outside of their den, humans came. His mother, father, and few pack members tried to defend them. Unfortunately, there were too many humans, at least 10 humans against 5 wolves and three helpless pups. The wolves were tranquilized with darts as the humans came upon them. When the wolves woke up, they were gone, as well as the three puppies.
Bo and his sisters were transported and sold to a laboratory in Texas. They grew up in a cage with tests performed on them multiply times a day. They weren’t mistreated but defiantly lacked socialization with other wolves. They were separated almost instantly, and occasionally saw each other passing by in the white hallways. Bo learned to deal with it, watching the other animals from behind the steel bars in his cage.
One day, when Bo was about 2 and a half years old, a human put him on a leash and took him out a door. He was lead through a hallway, and through more doors. Tail tucked between his legs, Bo hoped he would soon be returned to the solitude of his cage. As he was lead through yet another door, Bo winced, expecting the sharp pain of a needle in the scruff of his neck. When the pain didn’t come, Bo looked up. There was grass and a few small trees and flowers and sunshine through big windows. It was still inside, bur it was the greatest thing Bo had ever seen. The leash was unhooked and Bo took off, running around the small arena. He put his nose to the ground and sniffed the place from top to bottom. He looked out the windows and peered into the real world of grass. Suddenly there was the voice of the lab technician. “Lobo!” It called. “Lobo, come here!” The voice, like all others here, was thick with Mexican accents. Bo shook off the voice and continued roaming around the room. Then, the sharp pain he expected as a dart stung his flank. Bo’s eyes fluttered and then he dropped to the ground in a deep sleep.
From that day on, Bo vowed to get to the outside world. He wanted to be able to freely roam in the forest, sniff the grasses for hours, and discover more wildlife. He wanted to know what was out there, and it made him hopeful. Every time he was taken out of his cage, he pleaded with his eyes for the human to lead him to that room. Every time his luck failed as they turned a different way. The humans didn’t understand wolves, and that’s why they had captured Bo and his siblings. Or at least that was the best solution he could come up with.
Finally, Bo got his freedom. Early one morning, three lab workers nudged him into a tan colored box with a wire door. Whimpering slightly, Bo was anxious to see what would be done to him this time. He was full grown now at 29 inches at his shoulder and weighing just 68 pounds. The crate was put on a cart and the humans wheeled him out a door at the end of the hallway. Bo took in the site. It was a large, gray, flat area filled with cars of different colors and shapes and Bo was loaded into the back of a white truck. The humans climbed in the front and started the engine. The loud noise startled Bo and he yipped quietly. The humans chattered noisily in the front, driving for hours on end. Bo sighed and circled in the small crate, laying down and then falling asleep as the truck bounced nosily on……

Roleplay example
((This is just Bo's intro.))
Somewhere deep in the wooded area, came a roaring of a truck engine. For a few minutes, the sound grew louder and louder, until it slowed to a dull humming. More sounds erupted after two car doors slammed. The humans were talking to themselves, three of them. They opened the back of the white truck and drug out a large yellow box. The box had a wire door on one end where a wolf face could be seen whimpering and cowering.
The humans pulled and tugged the box to the edge of the meadow. One opened the wire door but nothing happened. The wolf inside whimpered some more but stayed in the back. He didn’t know anything better; he lived in a laboratory all his life. Why the humans would set him free in the wild, who knew? It was one of those strange things about those humans. No one ever know why they did the things they did. One human looked in at the wolf and tried to coax him out. The wolf tried to retreat farther. Sighing, the human turned away. Another rapped loudly on the back of the crate. Then he was gone. The wolf shot out of the crate like a bullet, soft grass under his paws. He didn’t look back. “Be free Lobo! Be free Lobo!” The humans smiled and climbed back in their truck and drove away.
The wolf, Lobo as he used to be called, ran and didn’t look back. At first, he was cautious, waiting for the sting of a needle or the pull of a leash. But nothing, nothing at all. At last, Bo was truly completely free! He inhaled the fresh air and sniffed the ground and grass and trees. There was real dirt under his paws and growing grass and life! Happily, Bo laughed out loud. He didn’t know what to do, but there was so much! The male wolf was so excited to see something other then the white walls of the laboratory, so excited, he didn’t even smell the other wolves.
((Hope that was good enough ^^; I have much shorter and much longer samples if you wish to see them as well.))
